Simply visit any job listing website, and you will find numerous large companies, as well as small firms with just a few employees, searching for Prompt Engineers.

But what exactly is prompt engineering, and what do prompt engineers do?

What Is Prompt Engineering?

In the simplest terms, prompt engineers are experts who specialize in creating text-based prompts that interact with artificial intelligence (AI) models such as ChatGPT or Gemini. They also test and optimize these prompts to improve AI responses.

They are often referred to as “AI Whisperers” because of the unique nature of their work. Their role in AI development is crucial, as the quality of their prompts directly impacts the accuracy and usefulness of the results generated by AI.

The term “AI Whisperers” comes from the metaphor of an expert “whispering” to artificial intelligence to achieve the desired output, similar to how animal whisperers communicate with animals.

What Does a Prompt Engineer Do? Responsibilities and Tasks

The primary role of a prompt engineer is to create effective prompts, but their work doesn’t stop there. A skilled prompt engineer must master several key tasks to ensure AI models function optimally.

Key Responsibilities of a Prompt Engineer:

  • Creating and Formulating Prompts: They design clear instructions for AI models to produce specific results and constantly experiment to find the approach that delivers the best outcomes.
  • Analyzing Results: They evaluate the output, identify any errors or “hallucinations” (inaccurate or misleading responses), and adjust the prompts to improve quality.
  • Customizing for Specific Needs: Depending on the industry — whether it’s marketing, medicine, finance, or technical documentation — prompt engineers to tailor the communication with AI accordingly.
  • Keeping Up with Trends: Given the rapid pace of AI advancements, they must stay informed about new algorithms, techniques, and breakthroughs to ensure high-quality performance.
  • Educating Colleagues: A reliable prompt engineer is always ready to share new insights and best practices with coworkers, helping maintain consistent quality across the organization.

Salary and Job Demand

The more developed and technologically advanced a country is, the more AI is integrated into business operations — driving demand for prompt engineers. This, in turn, influences salary levels.

The highest salaries for prompt engineers are found in technologically advanced regions such as the United States and Europe, and even in Turkey and parts of Asia.

According to various online sources, the average annual salary for a prompt engineer can range from $100,000 to $300,000, reflecting the high demand and the critical role these professionals play in AI development.

Conclusion

Introduction

Since Tuesday I gave priority to a sports article — after all, Croatia (my homeland) won a silver medal at the World Handball Championship — I thought it would be a good idea to write about cryptocurrencies today.

In terms of ecology and cryptocurrency mining, there is a fierce debate between the opponents — those who claim that mining is an environmental catastrophe — and the proponents, who argue that crypto mining does not pose as great a threat to the environment as some believe.

What are crypto mining and PoW?

The very first cryptocurrency was Bitcoin, which is mined using the Proof of Work (PoW) method. In simple terms, PoW means that miners use their computers to solve complex mathematical problems; the first to solve the problem gets to validate transactions, thereby creating and appending a new block to the blockchain, and in return receives a cryptocurrency reward.

Imagine this process as if miners were racing to find the fastest way to extract a “golden block.” The miner with the best equipment who offers the fastest and most accurate solution earns the right to mine and keep that piece of gold.

This process requires enormous amounts of computational power and, consequently, vast amounts of electrical energy. This brings us to the central ecological concern: if the electricity needed to run crypto-mining rigs comes from coal, oil, or any carbon-based fuel, the pollution produced is directly proportional to the energy used.

Critics of crypto mining — and especially of the PoW method — argue that the cryptocurrencies mined are not worth the environmental damage they cause. They are, in part, right. However, the energy powering these rigs does not necessarily have to come from carbon-intensive sources; instead, it can be derived from so-called “green energy” sources such as solar power, hydroelectricity, wind energy, geothermal power, or even tidal energy.

As we can see, even the PoW method of cryptocurrency mining is not inherently harmful to the environment. Moreover, there are many alternative mining methods where the environmental impact is reduced to nearly a minimum.

Sustainable Approaches in Blockchain Technology

Due to growing concerns about environmental degradation, global warming, and climate change in general, alternative mining methods have been developed to reduce the ecological footprint of cryptocurrencies. Some of these methods include:

  • Proof of Stake (PoS): In this method, users (or “validators”) invest a certain amount of cryptocurrency (for example, 32 ETH) that they wish to mine. They then “stake” this amount as collateral. In return, they are randomly chosen to validate blockchain blocks, earning transaction fees as rewards. The Ethereum network is an excellent example of PoS mining in action.
  • Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS): Originating from the PoS model, DPoS involves validators — known as delegates — who are elected by token holders. Once selected, these delegates validate transactions. The process is similar to PoS but with the additional step of pre-election by vote. EOS, TRON, and SUI are well-known networks using DPoS.
  • Proof of Burn (PoB): This alternative consensus algorithm involves “burning” tokens — that is, sending them to an unusable address, thereby permanently removing them from circulation. In return, miners earn the right to generate new blocks in proportion to the number of tokens they have burned. The Slimcoin network is a notable example of PoB in practice.

Other methods such as Proof of Capacity (PoC), also known as Proof of Space, or Proof of Authority (PoA), exist as well, and new techniques are constantly emerging that aim to minimize environmental harm. However, discussing all these alternatives in detail would be too lengthy for this article.

In addition, ongoing innovations in blockchain network design and protocol development are focused on increasing efficiency and reducing energy consumption. These new protocols promise enhanced scalability and security while keeping their ecological impact minimal.

Conclusion: Energy is the Key

After reviewing the various cryptocurrency mining methods, the conclusion that emerges regarding ecology is that both critics and proponents have valid points. Ultimately, regardless of the mining method, what matters most is the source of energy that powers the mining computers.

If carbon-based fuels are used, environmental pollution will be high. Conversely, if renewable, green energy is used, the environmental impact can be dramatically reduced, and nature will remain clean.

Introduction

I know that today is Tuesday, and I was supposed to cover a topic from the crypto world, but something extraordinary happened in my homeland of Croatia that has stirred the entire nation. I wanted to share at least a part of the atmosphere that reigned yesterday in the capital city of Zagreb, at Ban Jelačić Square.

The Big Victory and Historic Achievement

Croatia, against all expectations, won a silver medal at the World Handball Championship after a long 16-year medal drought, and a reception was held in the main square — a celebration truly fit for kings.

It may be that in the USA this sport does not draw a large audience, but in Europe, handball is a sport that can easily be ranked among the top three in viewership alongside football and basketball, and in Croatia, it is undoubtedly the second most popular.

You might ask why this is so important and why a silver medal is celebrated in our country.

About 20 years ago, Croatia was a handball powerhouse, and under coach Lino Červar, it won almost everything possible in the world of sports and handball.

Then came a period of “drought” that lasted for 16 long years. Now, a young, new generation of handball players has finally and deservedly reclaimed the top spot on the world handball throne, led by coach Dagur Sigurdsson from Iceland, who currently enjoys superstar status in Croatia.

A Small Nation with Big Achievements

Moreover, Croatia is a small country — not in terms of territory or sporting spirit, but in population — yet when statistics are calculated, our number of successful athletes per capita can stand shoulder to shoulder with the world’s greatest sporting nations such as the USA, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, or Germany.

We have always been a sporting nation, and every success of our athletes has been celebrated nationwide, even if it was a silver medal with a golden shine.

The handball players were greeted with the highest honors a national team could receive; an escort of military Rafale jets even accompanied the plane carrying our athletes from the moment they crossed our country’s border.

Since the time of the Homeland War and the struggle for independence, our athletes have been ambassadors of the Croatian nation, representing us to the world and defending our colors — or rather, our checkered pattern — because we are recognized worldwide for our unmistakable red-and-white checkered jerseys, which have become a kind of Croatian brand.

Conclusion

That is why every victory, no matter how small, is celebrated as if it were gold, and our athletes are respected and recognized like Hollywood stars throughout our Beautiful Homeland.

I hope that through this article and the accompanying images, I can convey even a small part of the celebration, euphoria, and atmosphere that has gripped the whole of Croatia these days. So now, enjoy the scenes of happiness.
